The City of Tipton, in cooperation with the Tipton Chamber of Commerce, developed a sidewalk / streetscape improvement project for sections of Tiptons downtown, primarily along Cedar Street (highway 38). Phase I and Phase II of the project have been completed, with Phase III expected to be finished this year.

This improvement plan includes new sidewalks, including a concrete paver "brick" strip set back from the curb. Click on the illustration to the left for a detailed look at the features of the project. Also included in this project are new street lights and pedestrian lamps.

In addition to the new sidewalks and lighting, the project includes ornamental trees planted along both sides of the street, for a total of eight trees on each block. The trees are spaced evenly along the block. The planters that currently line the downtown streets will still be utilized and are placed along each block as shown in the diagram.

See the illustrations below for an overall view of Phase I of the project and for an overhead view of the project area where new lights have been installed. Click on each to enlarge.
