Snow Removal Information |
|
Tipton's Public Works Department works hard each winter season to keep the city's streets clear of snow & ice and safe to drive. During a snowfall, once two inches accumulate the snowplows hit the streets. The priority streets include the perimeter of the town (South Street, Lemon Street, East Street, Plum Street, etc.). Then the attention turns to the inner streets. Since state highways 38 and 130 pass through Tipton, the Iowa Dept. of Transportation (DOT) is responsible for those roadways. This includes Cedar Street (downtown) and 7th Street. Cedar County plows roads on the periphery of town, such as F36 (Cedar Valley Road), F28 (9th Street) and X52 (Old Muscatine Road). Also, after a snow fall, the public is responsible for clearing the public sidewalks adjacent to their property. We ask that you complete this in a reasonable timeframe, ideally within 24 hours of the In addition, please remove any accumulated snow from around fire hydrants located on or near your property. This will allow, in the case of an emergency, fire crews to have quick and easy access to hydrants. For more information please contact the Public Works Department at 563-886-3953. |
