Grab your best pair of jeans and get ready to "go country" at Tipton's first-ever Blue Jean Ball, a benefit fo r the Hardacre Theater Preservation Association (HTPA). The "down-home" harvest fest-themed event is set for Saturday night, Nov. 11, at the Mathews Building on the Cedar County Fairgrounds in Tipton. The "ball" will include a live "dueling instruments" show from The Ryan and Joe Trio, an Illinois-based two-man band that plays popular music by request, "everything from Elton John to Little River Band to Alabama to Ozzy," according to the band's website. A meal of "barbecue with all the fixins" and non-alcoholic beverages are included in the ticket price. A cash bar will also be available. Tickets are $40 apiece and can be ordered online, or tickets can be purchased at the following Tipton bank locations: Citizens Bank, Community Bank, Liberty Bank and Trust, and or US Bank. Tickets will be $50 each at the door the day of the event. All proceeds go to the "Save the Hardacre" fund. The Blue Jean Ball will start at 6 p.m. and wrap up around 11 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear their denim and get ready for a great night of music and celebration. "Last year's sold-out Hardacre Centennial was such a hit, we wanted to emulate that event while giving it a whole new experience and atmosphere," said Shellby Wiskus, the event's organizer and HTPA director. "We think the Blue Jean Ball is just right for a fall celebration." The event will also include games, prizes, and a raffle. Participants can also get a group or couple's photo at the event from Tipton's Iowa Photo Co. for $5 per pose. The HTPA will also unveil layout drawings for the Hardacre Theater's renovation during the event. For more information on the Ryan and Joe Trio, go to www.theryanandjoetrio.com
