Cedar County's Freedom Rock is coming to Tipton!

When: Monday, June 11th (weather permitting)
In the event of rain, date will be changed to June 15th

This rock weighs approximately 50 tons and is being moved with a heavy hauler with 9 axles and a special crane to load and unload.  Part of Hwy 38 in downtown Tipton has to be shut down while the rock is being lifted in its final resting place.  The rock will be traveling from its current location and arrival time will be approximately between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.  (time may change)
The rock donated by Brad Albaugh & family.

Traffic will have to be rerouted for the day.  Streets that will have no parking for the day:
Cedar Street between 4th Street & 5th Street
4th Street between Cedar Street and Lynn Street
5th Street between Cedar Street and Lynn Street
To allow for wide turning vehicles, 2 or 3 prking places on both sides of the street North of 5th & Cedar Street intersection and South of 4th & Cedar Street intersection will also be no parking 
 
Ray “Bubba” Sorsenson will be painting the rock in 2020.  He has painted these artistic memorials for the past 18 years; his first was painted in Greenfield, Iowa in 1999.
