The Development Director is responsible for the promotion of Tipton as a great place to live and do business, working towards downtown revitalization and researching grants and other funding sources to aid in Tipton's community development efforts.

The Economic Development Director facilitates community-minded programs directed toward Tipton's further progress as a thriving business community with a high quality of life.

 We have two types of low-interest loan funds.   
  • Our Tipton Home Loan Fund offers 0.5% loans ($10,000 maximum) for permanent improvements to owner-occupied, single-family homes.
  • Our Tipton Revolving Loan Fund offers loans at 0.5% loans ($10,000 maximum) for qualified commercial and industrial properties throughout our city limits.

The City offers three programs where eligible applicants  can receive up to $5,000 in grant funds.

The City’s Tax Abatement / Tax-Exemption Program offers three primary types of property tax-exemptions.  (Tax Abatement/Tax-Exemption Program)

  • Single-family residences can qualify for tax-exemptions of 100% for new taxable improvements for seven-years.
  • For multi-family housing (three or more units,) the City offers a 100% tax-exemption on new taxable improvements for ten years.
  • Qualified commercial and industrial properties can receive a graduated, ten-year tax-exemption on new taxable improvements.
